March 17 (King World News) – Michael Oliver, Founder of MSA Research: In recent reports, MSA has shown various time-scales of silver’s momentum to provide a sense of upturn timing from the recent layered pullback. And each metric has in turn provided its own thumbs-up along the way. Long-term momentum of silver and gold remains positive and is not anywhere near any levels that would jeopardize that situation.
So at this point in an ongoing trend, as is often the case, turning to the lagged metric of price is often helpful.
And price does have something to say.
We noticed in sifting through various charts that this simple monthly close-only chart has been rising and producing repeated closes along the steep uptrend plotted through peak closes. Like a rising ceiling, it has been a line of restraint for silver. If we see silver close a month credibly out above $35, that will not only take out that presumed prior intramonth “peak” at $35 (which many assumed to be a peak), but will also put this simple monthly close-only chart out above that line of prior restraint, which has been acting as such for the last two years plus.
It wouldn’t surprise us to see this event basically coincide with the silver vs. S&P 500 monthly spread breakout.
