Gerald Celente: Iran’s so-called ‘mosquito fleet,’ which is comprised of hundreds to thousands of small attack boats, is a real problem for the U.S. Navy in the Strait of Hormuz because of its ability to disrupt commercial shipping in the waterway, while also jeopardizing military assets if employed along with Tehran’s missiles and drones.
Bryan Clark of the Hudson Institute told the Financial Times last week that the Iranians have been practicing using these mosquito fleets for decades, and they have always been a “latent threat.”
He said, Tehran understood that it would be “highly escalatory” to ever close the strait, but the U.S. “has now provided them with the perfect provocation.”
Saeid Golkar, an expert on the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, told The New York Times that the IRGC’s navy “works more like a guerrilla force at sea.”
“It is focused on asymmetrical warfare, especially in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. So instead of relying on big warships and classic naval battles, it depends on hit-and-run attacks,” he said…

The FT reported that the mosquito fleet is generally comprised of domestically produced boats that can launch missiles and drones.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that the Iranian navy has been destroyed.
On 7 March, Trump said: “Their army is gone, they’re just about… look, their navy is gone, their communications are gone, their leaders are gone… Think of it, they have 32 ships, all 32 are at the bottom of the ocean.”
He posted on Truth Social on 22 April: “Their entire navy is at the bottom of the sea, their air force is gone, their anti-aircraft systems and radar are destroyed.”
Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters on 8 April that more than 90 percent of Iran’s naval fleet has been destroyed. He also said about 50 percent of the mosquito fleet was destroyed.

Farzin Nadimi, an expert from the Washington Institute, told The Times that the Iranians closely watched the U.S. wage its war against Iraq and determined that the country could never defeat the U.S. in a direct military confrontation, so it worked on asymmetrical warfare and “developed a stealth force to harass ships in the gulf.”
The paper said it is believed that the Iranians have ten “well-hidden, fortified bases” designed specifically to launch these attack boats.
The Hudson Institute ran a report in April that said the “overall architecture” for the fleet is to “impose, friction, and nutrition rather than to seek or win a decisive naval engagement.”
The report said the IRGC “manufactures its vessels to remain affordable, evade sanctions, and be easily replaceable in wartime.”
This allows the Iranians to threaten other countries at a “relatively low cost,” the report said.
The FT reported that the U.S. military claimed that it sunk six of these speed boats during the short-lived “Project Freedom” campaign.

As we have detailed for decades, neither Israel nor the U.S. would defeat Iran in a war since the Persians are very advanced scientifically, technologically, and militarily. And while Trump and his team keep lying about destroying Iran’s military capabilities, the facts are different. Indeed, the U.S. could not even defeat the Houthis.

In contrast to the Strait of Hormuz, international shipping can use an alternative route by sailing around southern Africa, but doing so lengthens the journey and adds expense.”
