After their collapse to near “worthless” vs. gold in late 2015 (coincident with the bear market price lows in gold and the miners) and then the subsequent decade of basing action by relative performance, this spread punched out the decade of highs in its recent surge.
Yes, the spread dropped back coincident with the sharp, recent pullback in gold and silver, but it’s again rebounding. Watch this month’s action and into next. If you see readings firm some more again, assume the breakout is valid, as we’ve argued.
This breakout signals the start of a repricing of the miners vs. their metals. And even just returning to gold. We expect it.
