After a major move, prices are behaving as if they belong at these levels, with the potential for much higher ones ahead.
This looks like the start of a new regime — one defined by structurally higher prices in an over-indebted world where inflation remains the path of least resistance for policymakers.
Volatility will be part of the journey, but a return to a low-price metals environment anytime soon should not be the base case in my view…

Miners lagged at the start of this powerful bull market until progressively higher metal prices finally pulled the miners up. When the miners finally moved this past summer they FLEW in order to catch up. Now the metals are moving up and leading the way once again. Each time the price of above ground metal rises faster than under ground metal – a tension is created. The greater the price divergence – the greater the tension. Finally the tension becomes too great and the share prices of the miners fly to catch up.
This is the dynamic of the current bull market in precious metals. I’m not saying that this how it usually works or that this how it will always work. I’m saying that this is the dynamic of THIS bull market. Why does the market behave this way? Because this bull is young and most people don’t believe in it. In short – most are terrified to put money into mining stocks and they are even more terrified to hold more than a few days or a couple of weeks. This wall of worry means that people will not bet on miners without seeing lasting PROOF that metals prices will STAY up to justify higher mining shares. This behavior is evidence that this bull is still in its infancy. The public perception of the mining shares will change as the bull matures and the hesitancy/fear will vanish as confidence grows. I think that the current gold and silver prices will have staying power and that the miners will fly once again.
