December 31 (King World News) – The following chart and comments were in response to Fred Hickey’s note:
The individual noted gold’s performance vs the stock market in 3 separate 10-year periods after major commodity bottoms (see chart above and subsequent performance results below).
1929-39: Stocks down ~40%, Gold up ~75%
1970-80: Stocks up ~2%, Gold up ~2200%
2000-10: Stocks down ~15%, Gold up ~400%
Based on the results above, it will be very interesting to see how the price of gold trades vs the stock market over the next decade.
