The penalty announced Thursday by a U.S. Soccer Federation panel was in addition to a three-game league ban and fine announced last week by Major League Soccer.

The Portland Trail Blazers continued a retooling of their roster Thursday night when they selected Arizona forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson with the 23rd pick of the NBA draft then sent him to Brooklyn as part of a four-player deal. The Blazers acquired center Mason Plumlee and shooting guard Pat Connaughton in exchange for Hollis-Jefferson and guard Steve Blake. Connaughton was the Nets’ second-round pick, the 41st overall selection.

The Lakers chose Russell with the second pick in the NBA draft on Thursday, bypassing big man Jahlil Okafor to grab the Ohio State guard with the potential for greatness. Russell averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in his only season with the Buckeyes.
