Southern California teams don’t often have problems with rain delays. It is only the fifth rain delay since San Diego’s Petco Park opened in 2004. The last was on April 8, 2011, when a game against the Dodgers was suspended and finished the next day. The Padres beat the Nationals 8-3 when the game resumed after a nearly two-hour stoppage Thursday.
