Nick Laird:  “We looked at what happened with China and gold in part I.  Now, here are a series of charts that cover China’s activity in the silver market.  As you can see on the chart below, we have not yet seen China aggressively accumulate silver via imports from Hong Kong.

“Below you can see the annual chart showing the exporting of silver from China which was predominant in the early 2000's.  Since 2001, China has exported a net 11,549 tonnes of silver.  However, China has become a net importer of silver the last two years.

This chart shows a bigger view combining China's domestic silver production plus it's net imports from Hong Kong.  As you can see on the following chart, China has been increasing production from 1600 tonnes up to 3200 tonnes of silver per year.

And the long-term view shows China’s strong accumulation of silver over the last few decades.

King World News note:  It’s fascinating to see that China has gone from a net exporter of silver to a net importer.  We believe it’s important to keep an eye on the amount of net imports of silver into China in the coming years because this has the potential to create shortages in the silver market if China’s net imports rise dramatically.

For those readers that may have missed it, part I of Laird’s incredible chart series, which covers the gold market, was released earlier today.
